The benefits of Gmail’s new features for you and your business

Google have announced an Early Adopter Program (EAP) to introduce a new enhanced user experience in Gmail. The EAP includes a new design for the Gmail web interface, as well as introducing several new efficiency enhancing features.

There’s no need to sign up for the new Gmail; you can simply opt in via your admin console and then the new Gmail EAP will become available for your entire organisation. There is also the ability to switch between the new Gmail and the classic version easily via Gmail settings, so your users can easily switch between them if they’re not sure about the updates.

Tip: Google Forms is one of the less widely known of the G Suite Apps, though when used effectively it can greatly enhance your productivity. Among its many functions is the ability to create surveys, and what’s more, the responses to your surveys are automatically collected and collated. This includes real-time response information and charts so
your surveys are organised and analysed with ease.

So, what are the features included in the EAP and how can they boost your productivity? The new features include:

- A fresh, clean look for Gmail on the web (including a choice of inbox views)
- Easy access to G Suite apps, such as Google Calendar, from within Gmail
- Smart Reply on the web, just like on mobile
- Ability to "snooze" emails and choose when they reappear in your inbox –
postponing them for a date or time that works for you

Google also recently launched a new Contact Cards feature. The cards work just like business cards and are a great way to easily see people’s profile information at a glance. The cards appear inside your G Suite apps on the web such as Calendar and Google+, to see the cards you simply hover over another user’s name or profile picture with the cursor. To get the full value of these cards, you can populate them for users within your organisation. The information contained on the cards can be customised to suit your business’s needs and can include data such as a person’s: job title, desk location, contact info, calls-to-action, links to social media profiles and more.
