3 Tools To Help You Delegate Effectively

Most people know me as the queen of delegating - and it’s true! Not only do I delegate in my own business, but every single day I work with clients to help them become better at delegating to their team.

And since I’ve been doing this for a long time, you can bet I’ve tried pretty much every tip, tool & trick there is out there to see which ones are really effective and make delegating easier for my clients.

I’m not the only one who agrees that it’s important to learn how to delegate effectively.

So today I’m sharing with you 3 tools that I love to help make delegating easier.

At first, if you’re not used to it, delegating can be hard.

“What if my team member does it wrong?”

“Nobody knows how to do it the way I do it?”

“This task is something only I can do for my business!”

…you can bet I’ve heard them all.

And it’s pretty common to find delegating a bit of a challenge at first.

But ultimately, there are only so many hours in every day and if you’re doing everything without any help, you’re going to become the bottleneck in your business.

The first thing I recommend to any business owner when they’re starting out with delegating isn’t actually a tool… it’s making sure you have the right team in place to delegate to.

I’ve shared in the past my tips for developing a winning team and this should always be the first place to start so you know you have the right people doing the right jobs.

Once the team’s in place though, here are my top tools to help you become and effective delegator:

Communication

Whether your team are in-house and work from the same office as you, or you’re all remote working, it’s vital you have a communication tool that you can all use from wherever you’re working.

And especially if you’re going to be spending time out of the office - you want one communication tool that they can use so your phone isn’t constantly going with WhatsApp messages, phone calls, Facebook messenger conversations and even more.

I love using Slack for my team - the DM function means I can chat with individuals if needed, I can create channels for the different functions of my business and add the team members in there, and I can set my status so the team know when I’m available or not.

The basic Slack membership is free and has enough features to keep your team communicating well.

Task Management / Project Management

Once you get great at the art of delegating tasks, you’re going to have to find a way to monitor who’s doing what, when they’re doing it by and how everything all fits together to ensure a great service for your clients.

This is where your task management or project management tools really shine in your biz!

There are loads of these in the market, but my favourite is Asana.

Asana allows you to set projects, assign tasks to your team members, set due dates and add descriptions and files for further context. You get oversight over all the projects and it’s one handy place to keep all of your business tasks and important dates.

And even better, Asana is also free for the basic package.
