Setting Successful Goals in 2022

"Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible" - Tony Robbins

If you haven't set your 2022 goals yet, I'm here to tell you something: IT'S NOT TOO LATE!

There's still time to start the new year stronger than ever, and taking the time to set exciting, concrete goals now is one of the most effective things you can do to achieve success (even Asana agrees!)

So if you're still figuring out your goals for the coming year, read on for my tips on making them smarter than ever.

Review the last year

Before you plan for 2022, spend some time looking at how you performed against your 2021 goals.

What went well, what could have gone better and what needs to be carried on through the next year?

You can check out my blog about reviewing your business here (it's for a mid-year review but the process is the same.)

Start at the end

This one might seem obvious, but it's worth reminding - when you're setting your overall goals (and the steps to get there), start out at the ultimate goal you're looking for.

Maybe it's a 7-figure revenue goal...

or a launch of a new product...

or even expanding your team so you can work less...

Whatever you want from your biz in 2022, visualise the end result and use that as your starting point.

Plan out the small, achievable steps to get there

Your big goals are going to feel just that... BIG. And that can be overwhelming.

Break down every goal into much smaller, more manageable chunks.

By doing this, psychologically the goal becomes easier to achieve - and you get a little dopamine hit when you hit a target that builds confidence.

When you do this, you start to feel like your goals are achievable and seeing continual progress is so motivating.

Review regularly

I see so many biz owners start the year strong, full of motivation and drive for success.

But soon, the day-to-day grind takes over.

Before they know it, those big goals and the optimism that came alongside them has been all but abandoned.

Why does this happen? They're not reviewing the goals and regularly coming back to them.

Set regular review meetings (at least monthly) and make them a non-negotiable.

Measure how well you're performing against your goals and make the changes needed to stay on track.

If you don’t regularly review, it’s so easy to end up 6 months down the line and you’re nowhere near achieving your goal. And it’s a lot harder to course-correct at that stage.

You're not in this alone

If you have a team, get them involved in the goal-setting process.

Not only do you get them engaged in the success of the business for the coming year, you can also delegate responsibility for achieving some of the goals.

If you don't have a team, you're still not on your own if you don't want to be.

Consider bringing in someone to help you reach your goals - that could be a business mentor or a consultant like me, someone who can spot any of your biz blind spots and help you solve them.

Over to you

You've still got a couple of days left of the year, the perfect amount of time to get some exciting goals set for 2022.
