It’s nice to hear when someone genuinely loves their job, and thankfully I am one of those lucky people. My mantra is that when my clients win, I win. My love and passion for what I do definitely shine through and contribute to my clients success, but I didn’t always run my own business.
Before I became a business owner, I was a Personal Assistant for 14 years based predominantly in London. I worked under some very high profile business owners such as the late Zaha Hadid. I worked in a variety of different companies and industries from broadcast, media to a design company. I absolutely adored the role I took with the business owners I supported, because I really liked to get a feel for the entire company and see where I could assist and make a difference.
After sitting in boardrooms and taking minutes during meetings with esteemed and established business owners, I think it’s only natural that I would have progressed into running my own business some day, which I did.
I started my own company, Selina & Co., so that I could support even more business owners. I work with a team of handpicked Virtual Assistant’s, who all work on my own projects initially to ensure that they are the right fit to work with my clients. Although I’d love to help every business owner that I could, I want to keep my business boutique to ensure the personal touch is there and that I can directly oversee each client account and have a catch up call once a week.
My clients get the best results with me because I’m a problem solver. I enjoy tapping into different businesses and understanding their issues, and then work out a way to solve them. I am extremely organised, not only in business but also in my personal life which is the reason I am able to work with so many clients and ensure that each one gets the treatment they deserve.
When I start with any new client, we have an initial phone call where we go over the companies 6 months, 12 months and 3 year goals. From there I can then reverse engineer each goal and create a strategy and plan to help my clients reach their goals. I understand how it feels to run your own business, and I also understand that although you may want to do everything yourself in your business, this is neither productive nor possible. In order for your business to grow, you must let go and delegate.
